The clientèle is mixed, with both Indians and Americans frequenting the restaurant. "The Americans like our dosas and thalis," says Natarajan. As for the Indians, they throng here, driving from long distances to enjoy all their favorites. The restaurant is popular with Indian tourists too...Years after leaving L.A., the customers return to Paru's whenever they are in town.

[Paru's] is perhaps the first exclusively vegetarian restaurant that doesn't cause carnivores to holler, "Where's the beef?!" It's difficult to know what to specifically recommend--everything we've tried has been uniformly delectable. Our favorite, however, remains the dosa, a kind of deep-fried Indian crêpe roulée filled with scintillatingly spiced potatoes and other vegies.
